What survives
Cropped, resized, re-encoded or watermarked: it still matches.
Verification works on local keypoints, the corners and textures that stay put when a picture is cut down, scaled or compressed. A screenshot of a phone player, with bars and all, is fine: black bars are trimmed before the search.
What does not work as well: a heavy zoom on a small part of the frame, a strong colour filter, or a frame caught mid-transition. If a mirrored copy is the only thing that matches, the page finds that too.

Three things that help.
Pause on a still moment
Motion blur hides keypoints. A frame where little moves matches more easily.
Keep the whole picture
Crop away app buttons and captions, but keep as much of the scene as you can.
Try another moment
The index holds only a few stills per video. A second screenshot from elsewhere in the video doubles your chances.

A sharp, well-lit frame with the whole picture in view: no motion blur, no fade to black, no on-screen menus. If one screenshot fails, try another moment of the same video.
